Sorry I haven’t posted in a long time.  I’ve been going through some rough times in my personal life and writing here has seemed too much of a challenge.  I just wanted you to know what’s going on for the next few months. 

The luncheons are on break until September.  We will pick up on September 18, 2008.  Our monthly fellowship is also on break.  We had a great ice cream social on June 9.  Thanks to all who came.  I’ll let you know when those start back.

Go and enjoy the lazy days of Summer and we’ll meet back in the Fall.

Crossway Women’s Coordinator

Our next monthly fellowship is Monday, February 11 at 7:00 P.M.  All ladies welcome.

January is coming to a close.  I’m sitting here at the computer watching the rain come down and thanking the Lord for all His provisions in my life.  Do you ever take the time to stop moaning about what you don’t have and start listing all the wonderful things you do have?  We need to spend more time thanking God than complaining.  Do you thank Him for the rain, or gripe because it’s messing up your day?  I know I was a little guilty this morning.  I just  got a haircut and didn’t want my “new do” all messed up by the rain!  LOL

I’m just asking that the next time you gather your list of “don’t have’s”, before you give them to the Lord why don’t you make a list of all the things you do have?  Praise Him for it.  I’m quite sure that lists far exceeds your “don’t have’s”.

I had a good time at last night’s meeting.  We had the most women we’ve had a while.  Thanks to all of you who came out.  We got our new secret pal’s for the year and enjoyed a time of fellowship as well as great dessert.  Thanks to Justin for bringing back the yummy pastries from Ecuador!

Just a reminder that Thursday is the luncheon at my house at 11:30.  Bring a dish to share.  I’ll provide the drinks and dessert.  I’m making an angel food pineapple cake this month.  I’m sure we’ve all overindulged during the holidays, so I’d thought lighten it up this month in preparation for the Valentine’s luncheon!  LOL

I know there may be some of you out there who are hesitant to get involved in a women’s ministry because women have a bad reputation for tearing each other down with words.  I just want to encourage you to give us a try.  I have never seen a group of women as closely bonded as we are at Crossway.  We truly care about each other’s lives. 

This closeness has come about through fellowship with each other.  We started slowly in 1999 with lunch at my home once a month. This has been a time where we learned about each other and started really caring about one another.  We’ve laughed together, and cried together at these luncheons.  We’ve asked for advice and just been a listening ear when needed.  We became “vested” in each other.

From there we moved on to the monthly meetings.  They’ve changed through the years and now we’re ready once again for another change.  We’re in prayer for the direction God would have us go.  In the past we’ve had testimonies, quick lessons, movies, crafts, games, etc.  We’ve always had a good time, and I encourage you to come and give us a try.

Our girls’ night out program is just a time to get away from the kids or the stress of home and go out and be a “girl” - not a mom, a co-worker, a wife, etc.  Just have a little “girl time”.  In the past we’ve gone bowling, seen a movie, had dinner at a restaurant,  played miniature golf and even gone through a corn maze.  My head still hurts from Robin tossing an ear of corn over the wall! LOL

I’ll stop here since this is getting to be so long. I just want to encourage you to give us a try.  We’ll love you, cherish you, and care about what you’re going through.

Just wanted you to know that our next monthly fellowship is Monday, January 14th at 7:00 in the fellowship hall.  Please come and be a part of this ministry.  We’ll have dessert and discuss the upcoming events for the year.  I know how hard it is to get out of the house at night.  We get all comfy in our warm home and the cold outside air doesn’t seem inviting.  I’m no different than you.  It’s a challenge for me to get out as well, especially since I started working.  Once I get to the meeting though,  I have a great time and I’m so glad to see my friends. 

 We just don’t have enough time on Sunday mornings to be involved in each other’s lives and this meeting gives us a chance to connect and find out what’s been going on.

 We’ll also be drawing names for the upcoming Secret Pal program.  By now, you should have turned in your card.  If you have not, then you need to call Debbie Scott or Jennifer Ludwigsen.

 What do you think of our new site?  I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know about our next monthly fellowship.  We’ll be meeting on Monday, August 13 at 7:00 in the fellowship hall.  We’re going to have ice cream and spend time catching up with each other.  What a great way to say good-bye to summer as we get ready to get the kids back in school.  Hope you can make it.  Check back after the event and hopefully I will have figured out how to post pictures!  Love you all.
